Sustainable Staveley is a website bringing together differant initiatives in the village of Staveley, in the Lake District. You will find information on the Sustainability and Energy Network in Staveley (SENS) and the Staveley Big Onion.

SENS was formed in November 2007 to discuss sustainability action in the village, by looking at ways to reduce the energy use, explore the potential for hydro-electric schemes, promote cycling and walking, renewable technologies and to raise awareness of and take action on climate change.

The Big Onion was formed in Spring 2011 after a fundraiser Pancake Day at Easter celebrating local food and growing. The Big Onion; working towards food self sufficency in Staveley; building community-based knowledge and skills for sustainable local food production.
