Photovoltaics to generate electricity from the sun - Mon 19th Sept 2011. Ever wondered what the costs and benefits really are of installing solar panels on your roof? This evening will cut through the hype and visit a couple of houses in the village that have recently installed solar panels. The owners will be on hand to explain how much it all cost, how much they are saving on bills and earning through selling their electricity and maybe help you to decide whether it might be worth it for you. For more information contact Alastair Muir on 821459

Hydro – the proposal to develop hydro power at Barley Bridge is on hold, because the ownership of Barley Bridge Weir is still unknown. The weir has a history going back to the 12th century so ownership may not be entirely clear.
